HISTORICAL REVIEW

Conscious about the importance of joining different productive sectors of the Country, The Military Forces of Colombia have entrepreneurs and civilians committed   altogether to the fight against terrorism.

In the year 2003, and keeping in mind the necessity of acquiring support from the civilian society in order to assist the military victims of antipersonnel mines in the department of Antioquia, a group of entrepreneurs led by Doctor Alvaro Henao Cepeda, proposed the creation of a FOUNDATION which permanently and integrally dealt with the necessities of the military wounded in combat.

Doctor Henao Cepeda’s proposal was presented to General Mario Montoya Uribe, Commander of the National Army of Colombia, and to Mayor General Oscar Enrique González Peña, COMANDO CONJUNTO 1 “CARIBE´S” Former Commander who was commanding The Fourth Brigade in Medellin. Both commanders decided to support the idea of the FOUNDATION creation. General Montoya Uribe stated by then “I support the idea, because although we didn’t restore the whole pain of our men, it’s a good compensation to their commitment”.

Early in the year 2005, after some cautious analysis about the structure of the FOUNDATION, the first introductory of FUNDACION HEROE CAMINA was held with the company of Antioquenian entrepreneurs and leaders who were pleased and motivated with the idea of formally and permanently working for the military in disability condition.

After six months of the Counseling Committee’s work, integrated in it’s totality by Professional Officers of Reserve from the Fourth Brigade, The Foundation was structured with its objectives and north for working, and the group of founders was conformed among the  most outstanding entrepreneurs of the Department of Antioquia; and it was on the 16th of June of 2005 that the first assembly of FUNDACION HEROE CAMINA was celebrated, with a number near to 52 participants. Later, the group of 40 founders, men and women committed to supporting the programs of the FOUNDATION, was formed.

Once legally conformed the FOUNDATION, we started working on the registering the soldiers who would get the benefits of the various programs we count on, by diagnosing the peculiar conditions of each one of them.
